How cemeteries became one woman’s literary muse.
“I love a good cemetery. I always have, since I was a little girl. I’ve never found them spooky, creepy or morbid – the adjectives people often use to malign these places. But then in this country we have an uneasy relationship with death. We’re even squeamish about using the ‘D word’. I’ve spent many happy hours wandering around Foster Hill Road Cemetery with my rescue dogs, chatting to some of the folk buried there about plot ideas (some people might call this thinking aloud!) and feeding the crows that trailed me on my walks…”
Bedford born Sunday Times Bestselling author, Ruth Hogan, shares her love of Victorian cemeteries and how they have inspired the writing of her two books – THE KEEPER OF LOST THINGS, which has sold in 26 territories across the world, and THE PARTICULAR WISDOM OF SALLY RED SHOES, which will be published in May this year.
